News from London (Chapter 1)

Londra! Ho promesso a Benedetta (che ormai tutte conoscete) di portarla nuovamente nella “città che non dorme mai”… e così è stato!

London! I promised Benedetta (who you all know by now) that I will take her again to the “city that never
sleeps” …and that’s what I did!

Questa volta però, avendo a disposizione più giorni, ho deciso di vivere a pieno l’avventura gustandomi i colori, le atmosfere caratteristiche, la particolarità di questo posto davvero unico… Se vorrete seguirmi, vi farò partecipi di piccoli momenti delle nostre giornate!
Sappiamo che il giorno in cui si viaggia è sempre un po’ faticoso… quindi, dopo aver sistemato i bagagli nel nostro hotel e aver iniziato la prima visita verso Harrods e Knightsbridge, ci siamo dirette a Hyde Park… bellissimo!

This time, however, having more days in hand, I decided to live the adventures to the fullest, savouring the colours, the characteristic atmosphere and the peculiarity of this unique place… Follow me and I’ll share with you the highlights of our British days!
We all know that travel day is always a bit tiring.. so, right after unpacking in our hotel and paying a first visit to Harrods and Knightsbrigde, we went straight to Hyde Park… beautiful!

Niente di meglio che distenderai sull’erba, in mezzo al verde, e seguire l’esempio dei cittadini che arrivano per rilassarsi dopo il lavoro: con il rumore del traffico lontanissimo, da qui abbiamo assaporato il tardo pomeriggio londinese e il tramonto.

Sabato mattina: tappa obbligata a PORTOBELLO MARKET! Si passa da Notthing Hill, con le sue case tutte in fila, bianche o dai colori pastello. Con il bel tempo, è piacevole farne un tratto a piedi e gustarsi l’atmosfera del posto.

There’s nothing better than lying on the grass, in the midst of the Green, just like the citizens who come here to relax after work: with the distant sound of traffic, here we had a taste of an English late afternoon and sunset.

Saturday morning: we couldn’t miss the PORTOBELLO MARKET! You will go through Notting Hill, with its white and pastel colored houses all in a row. With a good weather, it’s nice to take a walk and enjoy the place’s vibe.

PORTOBELLO! Mille colori, gente di ogni nazionalità, bancarelle e allegria… a me piace tanto e nulla può sostituire il divertimento dato dal curiosare tra le proposte di questo famosissimo mercato, lasciandosi tentare dalle sue mille attrattive.

PORTOBELLO! Thousand colours, people from all places, stands and glee… I like it a lot and nothing can compare to the amusement given by browsing around what this renowned market has to offer, allowing yourself be lured by its many attractions.

Tra le prime proposte, ecco delle versioni originalissime di t-shirts: con 10 Pounds ne acquisti 3, un vero affare!!!

Among the first proposals are very original versions of t-shirts: you can buy 3 with only £10, a bargain!!!

Ma Portobello non significa solo vestiti! Guardate che belle le vecchie scatole in latta della nonna, perfette come porta biscotti o contenitori per le caramelle. Hanno sempre il loro fascino e ho pensato che, rientrate in Italia, le useremo come porta trucchi. Davvero uniche!!!

But Portobello is not just about clothes! Look at these old tin boxes perfect as cookie jars or for keeping candies. They always have their charm and I was thinking about using them as make-up holders when we get back to Italy.. really unique!

A me è piaciuta tantissimo questa gonna tipica dei costumi tibetani, tutta plissettata e ricamata a punto croce: perfetta per il rientro in città.
